Description

Amlodipine, Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets belong to the class of antihypertensive medications and are primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Hypertension is a long-term condition where the force of blood against the artery walls is elevated, increasing the risk of heart disease, irregular heartbeat, and other complications. In some cases, high blood pressure can lead to oedema, where excess fluid gets trapped in body tissues, causing swelling in the hands, arms, feet, ankles, and legs.  

How Does Amlodipine, Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets Work?

This medication is a combination of three antihypertensive agents: Telmisartan, Amlodipine, and Hydrochlorothiazide. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) that prevents the action of substances responsible for blood vessel constriction, allowing smoother blood flow and improving heart efficiency. Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, relaxes and widens blood vessels to ease circulation. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps remove excess water and electrolytes from the body through urine. By lowering high blood pressure, this combination reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes.  

Directions For Use and Its Side Effects

Amlodipine, Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets can be taken with or without food. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, without chewing, crushing, or breaking the tablet. Your doctor will prescribe the appropriate dosage based on your condition. Some common side effects may include ankle swelling, headache, dizziness, fatigue, altered taste, muscle weakness, dry mouth, and increased thirst. These side effects are usually mild and subside over time, but if they persist, consult your doctor.  

Precautions To Be Taken

Do not discontinue Amlodipine, Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets without your doctor’s guidance, as suddenly stopping the medication may lead to fluctuations in heart rhythm and blood pressure, chest pain, or even a heart attack. Your doctor will gradually taper the dosage to prevent such issues. Additionally, staying well-hydrated can help manage dry mouth and excessive thirst while taking this medication.
